What is white label AI shopping optimization?
White label AI shopping optimization is the work of getting a client's products recommended when shoppers ask AI assistants what to buy, done by a specialist and delivered by your agency under its own brand. It combines e-commerce SEO, AEO (answer engine optimization) and GEO (generative engine optimization) around one goal: being on the short list of products that ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini or Perplexity puts in front of the buyer.
Why your clients will ask for it
In November 2025, OpenAI rolled out shopping research to logged-in ChatGPT users on the Free, Go, Plus and Pro plans. It reads product pages, compares prices, reviews and specs, and writes a buyer's guide. OpenAI describes those results as organic. Google's AI Mode works on its Shopping Graph, with more than 50 billion listings and more than 2 billion updated every hour, according to Google. Perplexity says its shopping product cards are not sponsored and runs a free Merchant Program. None of these placements can be bought with a bid, which makes it a service agencies can sell on top of ads and classic SEO.
How each assistant gets product data
| Assistant | Main data sources | Work we do for the client |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Product pages on the web and feeds shared through the Agentic Commerce Protocol | Crawler access for OpenAI's search bot, a clean feed, complete product pages |
| Google AI Mode and Gemini | The Shopping Graph, fed by Merchant Center and on-page product data | Merchant Center hygiene and Product structured data that matches the feed |
| Perplexity | Its web index and the Merchant Program | Crawlable, specific product pages and a program application when the client qualifies |
OpenAI's feed specification lists nine basic fields (item ID, title, description, URL, brand, seller name, image, availability and price) and optional ones such as GTIN, reviews, star rating, shipping and returns. Most catalogs we audit have gaps in exactly those optional fields.
Checkout, honestly
Selling inside the chat is not settled. OpenAI scaled back Instant Checkout in March 2026, and ChatGPT purchases now finish on the merchant's checkout. Google offers agentic checkout with Google Pay for eligible US merchants, and its Universal Commerce Protocol needs a Merchant Center account. Forrester advises retailers to invest in discoverability while keeping control of checkout, data and margin. We position the service the same way with your clients: visibility first, no promises about in-chat sales.
Reddit and reviews
A Semrush study of 217,000 prompts (November 2025) found Reddit was the most cited domain on Perplexity, the second on ChatGPT Search and the third on Google AI Mode, and 80% of the cited Reddit posts had fewer than 20 upvotes. We plan honest participation: real answers in relevant threads, disclosed affiliation and reviews from real customers. No fake reviews or undisclosed paid posts; the FTC rule on fake reviews bans them.

Real experience behind this service
I supervise the SEO of 18 US e-commerce stores with more than 3 million products in total. Product titles, variants, structured data and feeds are the daily work there, and they are the same data AI shopping assistants read.
I also run AI visibility audits across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini and Copilot, recording which brands each tool mentions and which sources it cites. Every deliverable is unbranded and ready for your logo.
Tools I use
AI shopping problems I fix most often
Products missing from the feed
Feeds that skip variants, out-of-date prices or products with no GTIN or brand. Assistants cannot recommend what they cannot read, so the feed comes first.
Feed and page that disagree
A price or stock status in Merchant Center that differs from the product page or the schema. I align the three so no source contradicts another.
AI crawlers blocked
Bot protection or robots rules that stop OpenAI, Perplexity or Google from reading product pages. I check the server responses, not just the robots file.
Vague product pages
Manufacturer copy with no sizing, compatibility, materials or comparisons. Assistants answer specific questions, so the page has to answer them first.
No reviews or outside mentions
Products with few reviews and no presence in forums or comparisons. I set up a review routine and an honest plan for the communities buyers use.
How white label delivery works
Everything I deliver for this service follows the same white label rules, written into the terms of service and a mutual NDA signed before any access is shared:
- Your brand only. Reports, audits and documents use your template and logo. My name never appears.
- No client contact. I only speak with your clients if you ask me to join a call as part of your team.
- No poaching. I never offer services to your clients, during our work or for 12 months after it ends.
- Your time zone. Colombia is on UTC-5, so your team gets same-day answers during US business hours.
- Simple terms. 3-month minimum per client, then month to month with one month notice, payments by wire or bank transfer, Global66, credit card (Stripe) or PayPal.
Frequently asked questions
What is AI shopping optimization?
It is the work of making a store's products easy for AI assistants to find, understand and recommend when someone asks what to buy: product feeds, structured data, complete product pages, reviews and mentions on sources the assistants cite.
Can my agency resell it under our brand?
Yes. Audits, reports and recommendations come without my name, and I never contact your client unless you ask me to join a call as part of your team.
Is this a paid placement?
No. OpenAI describes ChatGPT's shopping research results as organic, and Perplexity says its product cards are not sponsored. The results depend on product data and reputation.
Can shoppers still buy inside ChatGPT?
Mostly not. OpenAI scaled back Instant Checkout in March 2026, and purchases finish on the store's own checkout. Google's agentic checkout works for eligible US merchants.
Does Reddit really matter for AI recommendations?
Yes. A Semrush study found Reddit among the top three cited domains in Perplexity, ChatGPT Search and Google AI Mode. We plan honest participation; we never post fake reviews or hidden promotion.
Which platforms do you support?
Shopify, BigCommerce and WooCommerce most often, plus custom platforms when the client's developers apply the changes.
How do you report results?
Monthly, with the same buyer prompts, which products and stores each assistant recommends, the sources it cites and the fixes shipped, in your agency's brand.
